Joy + Rigor + Grit = Mastery

Embracing rigor is part of saying ‘yes’ to a Hero’s Journey. Deep learning brings a special sense of joy, but the mastery required for a Hero’s Journey goes even further, requiring commitment, discipline and hard work towards a worthy goal.

Studios

The Studios are where relationships are built, dreams are created and learning never stops.  Each studio is made up of mixed-age children devoted to one another for support and collaboration. They are free to explore, learn, serve, fall down, and, most importantly, practice getting back up. Full of work and play, the studios are sacred places of life-changing growth.

Primary Studio

“spark”

ages 4 - 7

Our youngest learners are the owners of our Primary Studio environment.  Based on Maria Montessori’s philosophy and vision, we support the whole child through free play, hands-on materials and experiential quests.  We aim to nurture a love for learning and exploration of the world around them while understanding the importance of practicing care of self and care of environment. And, we follow the needs of the child by preparing lessons based on their sensitive periods and interests. We allow experiences to naturally unfold and engage with guidance to encourage respectful communication and self-assurance.

These learners are taking independence to the next level with self created schedules, time management and passion projects. They will begin their journeys as apprentices working closely with local community business owners, leaders, and advocates to explore their strengths and head down the path to find their calling.
